AN OCEAN ADVENTURE(example of descriptive essay)

As I watch, the waves from the shore look fun and almost innocent as they crest and then crash over one another. I can taste the salt in they air and watch little rainbows glisten through the prisms of the ocean’s spray. The warm ocean water toward the shore is covered with foam and bubbles from the rumbling waves as children and their families play in the gritty tan colored sand. I think to myself, “This is perfect”.
I make the final preparations on my Yamaha Waverunner. All of the fluid levels check full and there is a faint smell of gasoline mixed with the aromas of salt and fish in the air. I am now ready to brave and jump the mighty ocean waves of South Padre Island!
Before the truck backs the trailer into the warm waters at the dock and lowers the Waverunner into the blue-green abyss, I crank the engine for a final systems check. It roars powerfully, drowning out the sound of the birds circling overhead, as thick black and gray smoke initially pours from the exhaust and then slowly drifts away on the wind’s light breeze. I turn the impressive machine off to finish my final preparations.
As I put on the Jet Pilot lifejacket and tighten the thick blue straps, I remind myself to stay calm and not to make stupid or impulsive decisions during my journey into the ocean. It is easy to push oneself to the limits and lose track of reality. I must remember to respect Mother Nature at all times and keep in mind that I am not invincible.
I climb aboard the Waverunner and grab hold of the handbars, warm from the bright sun. Now the truck begins to back up, gently lowering me on this powerful machine into the calm waters of the docking area. As I drift from the trailer, I take a moment to look around and enjoy the peaceful serenity of the smooth, almost glass-like, water.
As I push the start button and the Waverunner roars to life, the power vibrates my seat at first and then settles into a soft rumble. I navigate my way through the docks until I am in the channel. I can now press the throttle and hang on for a fun ride! While the waves through the exit channel are only half of the size of the ocean’s mighty waves, this gives me time to warm up and get in sync with the powerful 135 horse powered Waverunner. I am now ready to take on the Gulf of Mexico!
I drive out far enough to stay out of the foamy white surf. Suddenly, the ocean begins to crest around me. As I drive into the waves, I am careful to only depress the throttle to a maximum of half power. Any more would be foolish and could cause a wipeout. I approach a wave with a perfect peak and at the ideal time. I gently squeeze the throttle and the loud roar of the engine fills my ears as the power pushes me up to the foamy white crest of the wave.
In an instant, I am no longer floating on the water, but I am soaring like the beautiful white birds through the misty air. In one brief moment, I look down and estimate that I am eight to ten feet in the air for a split second before I begin my descent back to the briny waters. In a flash the back end of the Waverunner sits down into the ocean with the front following in a rocking motion. All around me is a fine spray of the salty water. I have landed!
Salt and sweat mix to run down my face and into my mouth. I swallow some of the brackish mixture as I wipe my face with my hand and then run my hand through my dripping hair to dry it out. I think to myself, “What a way to spend an afternoon”.
Soon, I notice that the sun is slowly fading in the west so I decide to turn back toward the docks. As I enter the entrance channel, I decide to return at a slower pace to enjoy my last few minutes at sea. The sun reflects off the water in brilliant colors of gold, orange and red. The beads of sweat and water glimmer on my bronze skin in the vanishing rays of light.
To my surprise, I look out and see smooth gray hump with a dorsal fin surface about twenty feet in front of me. It is a dolphin! What a beautiful sight. As this intelligent creature slides back under the ocean’s surface, I spot two more dolphins and then another joins them. The first dolphin emerges again to make a total of four. They are swimming in front of me, playing in the surf. It is almost as if they are leading me to shore. As I idle through the channel, they slowly disappear back to their home in the Gulf.
Once the dolphins are gone, I gently squeeze the throttle and head back to the docks. With a final look back, a see the sun’s reflection off of the glassy smooth water as the ripples of my wake break the surface behind. I think about what a wonderful experience this day has been.
Approaching the boat trailer, I realize how physically tired I am from the constant rush of adrenaline brought by my adventures. I have the memories of the exciting jumps of the waves and the vivid pictures in my mind of the graceful dolphins swimming in the sunset. I am ready to go home.

The Enjoyment of Atlanta (example of descriptive essay)

Traveling is one of my favorite things to do. I have visited many places throughout the United States, however, none are as exciting as Atlanta, Georgia. In Atlanta, there are many places to go and sights to see. For example, Six Flags Over Georgia, Stone mountain Park, and the Atlanta Braves Stadium, are all in or near the city of Atlanta.
Six Flags Over Georgia is a theme park containing anything from sweet treats to fun rides. Six Flags provides many activities for all ages. It is not at all uncommon to see famous cartoon characters, such as bugs Bunny, roaming around the park. Olde r children and adults who possess strong stomachs may enjoy riding the various roller coasters available. For example, The Ninja, is my favorite. The Ninja goes up and down steep hills and even loops upside down. Six Flags also has water rides availabl e to keep people cool. My favorite is Thunder river. Last June, I was lucky enough to get caught under the waterfall. Six Flags also has games to play and many souvenir shops. As for the sweets I mentioned earlier, the funnel cakes are absolutely deli cious. I would highly recommend Six Flags as a place to go when visiting the Atlanta area.
Stone Mountain Park is another tourist attraction near Atlanta. The park is located in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Not only is it a fun place to visit, but it is also historical. The mountain is the largest exposed piece of granite in the world. The f ace of the mountain was carved by the same man who carved Mt. Rushmore; however, he did not finish it. The carving, which is located on the top of the mountain, remained unfinished until it became a state park. The establishment of Stone Mountain State Park took place in 1963. The carving represents three key figures of the Confederacy riding their horses. The men included are Ulysses Grant, Robert E. Lee, and Jefferson Davis. The width of the carving is three-hundred yards, therefore, the width of a football field. Along with historical museums, the park has campgrounds and horseback riding. Stone Mountain Park also has a water park with a beach and a beautiful golf course. My favorite activity, however, is the laser show. The laser show takes p lace on the face of the mountain. Many shows take place on the holidays, such as July 4th. Stone Mountain Park is also a main focal point for the 1996 Olympics. There will be seven events taking place in the park. I definitely won't miss that attracti on!
Last, but definitely not the least, is the exciting Atlanta Braves Stadium. I spend most of my time there when visiting Atlanta. The stadium is always packed with rowdy Braves fans wearing various forms of Atlanta paraphernalia. there are many conce ssion stands which serve hot dogs, pizza, nachos, and cold drinks. It is exciting to see all of the players dressed in uniform, not to mention the usual overweight coaches. The Braves games have been increasingly interesting over the past couple of year s. For example, last year they were one game away of winning the national championship. I am hoping there will be another chance this year. Another exciting thing to do while at a Braves game is to get autographs. The players usually give them out bef ore the game. For instance, last summer I received Terry Pendleton's autograph. He wrote, "Keep on pulling for us Chuck." I will always keep that to remind me of the wonderful year they had.
In conclusion, there are many places to visit in Atlanta. The most exciting ones include Six Flags, Stone Mountain, and the Atlanta Braves Stadium. Each one offer various forms of fun for all ages. For instance, Six Flags offer kiddie rides as well as rides for the older children and adults. Stone Mountain Park offers horseback riding and laser shows. Lastly, the Braves Stadium, offers great food and famous autographs. Everyone should visit the city of Atlanta at least once, I know I have.

The unhappiness of students(cause and effect)

In Turkey, almost every student from 10 to 30 has an exam that they have to pass.A student who is sixth, seventh, eighth class has to pass sbs in order to have a good education.Like sbs, there are lots of exams for students such as lgs ygs and kpss. These exams are always boring for students.exams mak e students stress.Due to this stress, they are sometimes agressive and unhappy. This unhappiness of students owing to the exams has many reasons.
The first one of the student's unhappiness owing to the exams is that exams will affect their life;for example,ıf someone who have to pass the exam (lgs, ygs) doesn't win , he/she lose one year in her/his education life and he/she has to study again and this affects his/her emotions badly. At the same time,it affects his/her score.Recent interviews with students revealed that nearly every student will be affected and this causes them some psychology problems.
The exams which it is still thought whether they must be removed from education system or not make students depressed and the unhappiness of students is due to the fact that exams will affect their life.Life is important for every kind of person in the world.

Differences among spouse(opinion essay)

Marriage that is important for every kind of person can be the most difficult thing for people's life.

Although some people think that love is the most important thing in a marriage ,this is sometimes wrong.

In addition to love, there are many situation that people must think .

one of the situation that people must think is culture differences. It affects couples very much.

Culture differences include different tastes, different languages. For instance, each one of a couple wants to listen different kind of music or watch different kind of movies.

The other one ,I think,is religion. Those who have different beliefs have many problems.Religion can cause some problems among spouse, because people live according to their beliefs,

but in addition to these ,people can think that marrying someone from another culture can teach a person a culture.By marriying , you can learn different cultures, different beliefs.

You can have the opportunity to meet foreign people and you can also have a second language. To some extent, it's true.Someone can learn everything that belongs to different culture, but he / she can't have a happy marriage.

For a short period of time, living in other cultures is perfect.

love is necessary for all human beings, but ıt may last earlier.Living in another culture is the most difficult thing and people must think all the situation that she/he can face

the peaceful world

(the world I live is not known by anybody. This place serves only me and because of this, it is my own world.)It is the place in which I study, watch movies and listen to music in tranquality. It contains some special things.
Firstly ,as you open the door, you feel the mystery. Many years ago, my brother had this room and he died in it and now, I have it.Although I don' t believe it , everybody who comes to my room feels it.The other thing , it is a cozy place and what makes it cozy is the wall's colour. The colour is purple ,but it is not dark purple. It affects your mood since you enter it.At the right side of the room, there is bed.It belonged to my brother and in front of you,you can see my bed. It's near the window.Due to this, while you are listening music, you can enjoy the sky's beauty. At the corner,my computer sits on the desk and at the bottom of it,there are some dvd , some musıc's cd.You can choose one of them and you enjoy it.Another thing is bookcases.Actually, this bookcase belongs to my father. It is composed of his books.
It is my world. When I was a young child ,I didn't like my room, but now I like (ıt is peaceful atmosphere.)

Education was the most important differences(compare and contrast)

With an opportunity that comes suddenly,I had achance to spend my time in England. This chance taught me lots of things. It also provided that I can analyze the features of two countries,,by evaluating one by one.Now , I can see clearly the similarity and differences of them.
the similarities between them was a few .I can say the only similarity that I realize was the crime rate. The crime rate in England was very high.Like Turkey, people was afraid of going out alone after twelve o'clock. They also warned others not to go out alone after twelve o'clock.Countries have many differences and the first one was different type of houses.England has usually semi-detachted houses and these houses were near each other. These were much smaller than Turkey's houses. For example, the house that I stayed during my education has three rooms,a kitchen and a small garden. There is a room at every floor. The second one was weather.England's weather was absolutely different from our country. It was very changeable and ıt had clement climate. It was always raining. However, Turkey's weather is completely different from it.Turkey has four season and the parts of it can have different climate at the same time. The other thing was education that was the most important one.In their education system, there was no homework.Teachers teach students everything during the class.Students who have no homework are very relax and this affects their grade positively. The last differences that I can realize was shopkeepers. These shopkeepers were very strict about their schedule time.In the country, shops were closed at five pm and shopkeepers open the shop at eight am and noone didn't sell an item.
visiting a country provides people evaluating countries.By evaluating , people can realize the differences and similarities of them.Differences cause somebody to think about the way that she/he did.
